Mothers Rising Home Visiting Program

The Mothers Rising Home Visiting Program provides expectant and new parents with comprehensive home visiting services during pregnancy and postpartum. Working with a care team, program participants receive culturally congruent and respectful care tailored toward each family’s needs.

Counseling

Offering guided support to individuals or families during the prenatal and postpartum period.
Doula Care

Birth planning, labor support, and advocacy to encourage a respectful and positive birth experience.
Home Visiting

Personalized and culturally relevant care from a Perinatal Community Health Worker to support a healthy pregnancy and parenting journey.
Wellness Coaching

Fitness classes, cooking workshops, and 1:1 support for your wellness journey.
Parent Education

Private, virtual, or group classes designed to help you prepare for pregnancy, birth, and caring for a newborn.
Lactation Support

Breastfeeding assistance, classes, support groups and 1:1 lactation in office or the comfort of your home.

Who Can Be Referred?

Any birthing person in the D.C can referred to the MRHV.  We support all family structures, ages, and body types. Who may gain the most benefit from this program?

  1. A person with a racially or ethnically diverse background including, Black, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, Latin, or multiracial
  2. A person with psychosocial factors and/or social determinants that may impact their pregnancy or postpartum health
  3. A person who has limited to no family, community, or partner support
  4. A person with limited socioeconomic resources
  5. A person at risk for giving birth to low birth weight or preterm baby
  6. A person with morbidities that complicate pregnancy or postpartum

FAQ’s

We currently are in-network with the following Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MMCO) to deliver the Mothers Rising Program: AmeriHealth, Wellpoint, MedStar, and HSCSN). Members of these plans are 100% covered. We have a limited number of pro-bono spaces per quarter for those without insurance or who are not covered by these plans.
